dorsal plating

An orthopedic surgery using a metal plate and screws placed on the back (dorsal side) of a bone, often the distal radius (wrist) or proximal ulna, to fix complex fractures, especially comminuted (shattered) ones, allowing stable fixation, precise anatomical reconstruction, and earlier movement by bridging the break and holding fragments while healing.
