A genre of video game in which the player controls a continuously moving and progressively lengthening line, typically represented as a snake, that collects items to increase score while avoiding collisions with boundaries or with its own body; movement is generally restricted to the four cardinal directions, and the growing length increases difficulty as available space diminishes.
