Facilitation of discrimination learning by the addition of relevant cues within a given stimulus dimension such as the dimension of shape may be limited by the information processing capacity of the organism with performance reaching an early asymtope and then decreasing with added cues (Rappaport, 1957; Attneave, 1960; Miller, 1956; and French, 1953).
