A yellow crystalline broad-spectrum antibiotic C₂₂H₂₃ClN₂O₈ (trademark Aureomycin) of the tetracycline group that is produced by a soil actinomycete (Kitasatospora aureofaciens), active against many bacterial and fungal infections, and is sometimes used in animal feeds to stimulate growth.
