A specific molecular form of a protein product arising from a specific gene.

Any of a group of related protein molecules arising from all combinatorial sources of variation giving rise to products arising from a single gene. These include products differing due to genetic variation, alternatively spliced RNA, transcripts, and post-translational modifications.
