Phenyl salicylate; a, odorless, tasteless, white crystalline powder, nearly insoluble in water, but soluble in chloroform, ether, oils, and certain concentrations of alcohol, which is split up in the intestines into salicylic acid and phenol, and which is used for certain medicinal purposes.
