V4α

A subdivision of the human color center, located in the anterior fusiform gyrus, that works alongside the more posterior V4 (in the lingual gyrus) to process color; more involved in higher-level color perception and manipulation, contributing to the variability seen in acquired color blindness (cerebral achromatopsia) when damaged.
